Which Alaska counties don't require a building permit?

Alaska uses boroughs as its county-equivalent municipal governments, and the county counts here concern unincorporated land; city building permit and zoning rules can differ.12 Residential building permits are not required in 12 county-equivalents, including Bethel Census Area, Dillingham Census Area, Nome Census Area, Southeast Fairbanks Census Area, Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area, Hoonah-Angoon Census Area, Kusilvak Census Area, Denali Borough.1 Another 10 have limited requirements, while 8 require residential building permits.23 Use the Alaska no-building-codes list to narrow your search, then read the parcel's local answer.1
